CHANGER was recently represented at the webinar titled “Do we need ethical approval for AI research?”, organised by The National Committee for Research Ethics in Science and Technology (NENT) on 11 November 2024.

Ellen-Marie Forsberg from NORSUS, a CHANGER project partner, talked about how ethics in research should help researchers think more carefully about the choices they make. She pointed out that ethics should be built into research from the start and continue throughout the project. E.M. Forsberg also suggested different ways this could be done in practice, such as setting up ethics committees at institutions and encouraging more cooperation between researchers and ethics advisors.

While CHANGER’s work on AI-specific issues is still to come, her presentation showed how the project is already contributing to important discussions about how to handle ethics in new areas of research.
